OSHA HAZWOPER
Hazardous waste operations and emergency response — the federal baseline for trauma and biohazard remediation crews.
Bloodborne Pathogens
Active certification in handling, containment, and disposal of blood, OPIM, and biohazardous fluids.
OSHA HazMat Supervisor
On-site command authority for hazardous waste operations and multi-agency emergency response coordination.
EPA Asbestos
Federal certification for inspection, containment, and removal of asbestos-containing materials.
Medical Waste Hauler
Licensed transport and disposal of regulated medical waste — chain-of-custody documented on every job.
ASCR Mold Remediation
Supervisor-level certification for mold remediation — relevant for water damage and post-decontamination scenes.

Crime scene and biohazard remediation isn't improvised. Every KRI job follows the same documented protocol, from dispatch to certificate of safe habitation.

Full PPE — Tyvek, P100 respirators, double nitrile, eye protection — staged before any technician enters the affected area.

Restrict
Physical containment and access control. Adjacent rooms are sealed; HVAC is isolated; entry is logged.

Remove
Unsalvageable porous material is cut out, double-bagged as regulated waste, and chain-of-custody documented for disposal.

Sanitize
Hospital-grade disinfection — multiple passes with EPA-registered tuberculocidals across every reachable surface.

Verify
ATP swab testing and visual re-inspection confirm the area meets the IICRC S540 standard for biohazard remediation.

Written certificate of decontamination — accepted by insurers, landlords, and county health departments.
QUESTIONS / 04
The things people actually ask.
- Will my insurance cover the cleanup?
In most cases, yes. Homeowners and commercial property insurance frequently cover biohazard and trauma-scene remediation under standard policies. KRI direct-bills your carrier whenever possible, and we'll help you file the claim if you haven't yet. Out-of-pocket quotes are also available before any work begins.
- How quickly can you arrive?
Within an hour for the DFW metroplex. Three to four hours for Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and other major Texas metros. We dispatch 24 hours a day, every day of the year — there is no after-hours surcharge for emergency response.
- Will the neighbors know what happened?
Not from us. Our vehicles are unmarked. Our crews wear plain PPE without company branding visible from a distance. We do not discuss the scene with anyone outside the immediate property. Confidentiality is the default, not an upgrade.
- Do you work with law enforcement and coroners?
Routinely. We coordinate with Texas law enforcement, coroner and medical examiner offices, and forensic teams to confirm scene release before remediation begins. We do not begin work in any active investigation until release is in writing.
- What's the difference between regular cleaning and biohazard remediation?
Regulation. A janitorial crew is not licensed to transport medical waste, certified for bloodborne pathogens, or trained on OSHA HAZWOPER. Biohazard remediation is a federally regulated discipline. The wrong cleaner can leave a scene that looks clean but remains a health risk — and can leave the property owner legally exposed.
- What does the certificate of decontamination actually do?
It documents — in writing, signed by a certified supervisor — that the affected area has been remediated to the IICRC S540 standard. It is accepted by insurance carriers as proof of completion, by landlords for habitability, and by county health departments where one is required. Keep a copy.
